Knitting!

5 Dec

I’m really excited! I somehow found my way to Bumblebee Acres Fiber Farms and found this Outlander inspired collection! I am smitten. I watched one episode of the show, and instantly knew I would love the book series, so I turned off the show and bought the book. And I do really love it. I love a love story. And time travel! And Scots!

So when I found this Outlander inspired stuff, I promptly ordered the two colorways inspired by the main characters, Jamie and Claire. And I also got both Outlander inspired shawl patterns! I think (hope) I’ll be able to manage knitting both shawls. AND there are three other colorways that I’ll probably pick up at some point – A Ride Through the Highlands, Through the Stones and Dragonfly in Amber. I love them all.

The yarn arrived on Saturday. It is gorgeous! It’s exactly what I hoped it would be. The Jamie yarn really embodies what you think of when you think of a red-haired-tartan-clad Scotsman. And the Claire yarn is a lovely pink/brown/blue/white and I love it. They are perfect for the characters.

I’m starting with The Gathering Shawl in Jamie yarn. I had to restart this about 10 times due to messing up. Had to sort of refamiliarize with some of the basic knitting techniques! Derp. But finally yesterday afternoon I got going, and got through several rows. The picture below really doesn’t do the colors justice.

I’ll post again when I have more progress. You can also keep up with me here on Ravelry.

Gorgeous yarn! It’s an impressive undertaking, but I know you can do it!
