I haven’t posted in a while, but I have been busy! Life busy. Cross stitch busy. Work busy.
Below is my progress on the Michael Powell cottage. Sorry for the truly dismal photo. It is coming along nicely. I’ve realized that I really hate using white floss. Hard for me to see it and keep track of where it goes. Quite a bit of white left, but it will just have to be done during the day when it’s brightest.
I’ve also decided to start another piece, so that I can work on these two concurrently. I don’t remember where I first saw it, but I fell in love with the alphabet sampler by The Prairie Schooler company. Below is one all framed up, done by someone else. It is amazing.
These are sold in patterns of three, like the letters A-B-C together. I initially ordered A-B-C and Y&Z. But the company re-released in small quantity G-H-I, and so I ordered that as well, since it seemed to be pretty hard to find before the re-release. I think the other letters will be easy to get a hold of once I get to them. And let’s be honest, it will probably be years before I get there. But I’m excited to start this.
One difference about this project is that it will be done on evenweave linen. Up to now I’ve only used Aida, so I’m excited and nervous to try this new stuff. I ordered the recommended linen for the project – 32 count Lambswool linen and all the required floss. I was really surprised at how stiff the linen is. The floss and linen are all sort of muted colors, which I really like. It feels very fall like, which is appropriate since fall is on it’s way! It’s gray and drizzly in Redmond today, which I am loving.
In other news, my hubby and I are buying a house! Very exciting, but also very complicated and a little stressful. It’s out in the country and I am so looking forward to it. It’s so quiet and peaceful out there.
Anyway. We have a three day weekend. I’m hoping to get many boxes packed, and do some cross stitching.
